Judith R. Cohen
(left),
born in Montreal, Canada, received her Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology,
and M.A. in Medieval Studies from the Université de Montréal.
She is well-known as a performer and researcher of Sephardic and
related music, and for her work on Crypto-Jewish musical life in
Portugal. Currently, she is the General Editor of the Spanish
Recordings of the Alan Lomax Collection, and teaches part-time
at York University, Toronto.

Esperança Bonet Roig
(right),
born and raised in Ibiza, is the Guest Editor of the Ibiza and
Formentera recordings of the Alan Lomax Collection. A Spokesperson for
Traditional Culture at the Consell Insular d’Eivissa i Formentera, she
has been active all her life in the study and promotion of Pityusan
customs, traditions, language, history, and environmental conservation.

Manel Frau,
born in Mallorca, is a musician and composer, and Guest Editor of the
Mallorca CD of the Alan Lomax Collection. A graduate of the Conservatory
Professional de Musica de Balears, he holds an M.A. in Semitic Philology
(Universitat Central de Barcelona), and a B.A. in Catalan Philology (Universitat
de les Illes Balears). Currently, he is Assistant Librarian for Jewish
Religious Texts at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in
Philadelphia.
