Giuliana Fugazzotto
teaches Ethnomusicology at the University of Gorizia. She has
collaborated with the Centro di Sonologia Computazionale in
Padova, and has published pioneering works in computer-aided
ethnomusicological analysis. Furthermore, she has specialized in
computer sciences applied to the ethnomusicology.

She has carried out far-reaching fieldwork into traditional Sicilian music and Sardinian polivocality and has also collected, studied, restored and reissued the historical sources of the Sicilian repertoire recorded on 78rpm discs for the record labels Ethnica and Phonč [I Miricani - L’avventura discografica dei siciliani in America negli anni dell’ emigrazione (1917-1929), Tu scendi dalle stelle - Repertori musicali del Natale nei dischi a 78 giri (1916-1955), Ballabili a 78 giri – Le proposte di musica da ballo nei cataloghi italiani di dischi (1919-1955)] . She owns one of the largest private collections of this corpus in Italy, relating to traditional and/or folk or popular music from 1900 up to the 1940s.
