Indoor Soccer Rules:
1. Time:
• Two (2) sixteen minute halves with running time, except
for injuries.
• Time will be stopped in the last minute of each half at
the referee’s discretion.
• Overtime will be one five (5) minute period (Playoffs only).
• If game is still tied at the end of overtime, a standard
5 person “breakaway shootout” will be used to determine
the winner of the game.
• Each team is allowed one (1) time-out per half (45 seconds).
2. Both teams must be in their own defensive halves to start each
kick-off.
3. Games will be played with six (6) players (2 female players
for coed). A team may play with one female in the event that a girl
is hurt during the course of play, but they must also then play
a man down as well.
4. There is no offsides infraction.
5. Fouls will include: High kicking, tripping, pushing, and handballs.
• The penalty will be a free kick (direct) from the point
of the infraction.
(If foul occurs within the penalty area, a penalty kick will be
awarded from a distance of 7 meters.)
• A two minute penalty will be assessed for a flagrant foul.
• All fouls will result in a direct kick.
6. A ball which goes out of bounds will result in an indirect kick.
7. Free substitution will be in effect.
8. There will be no slide tackling allowed at all. Sliding is allowed
as long as no one is in the immediate vicinity (Officials discretion).
9. Goalie Play:
• There will be no goalie punts.
• Goalie may not throw the ball past the neutral zone on the
fly.
• Goal kicks may not go past the neutral zone in the air.
• A goal kick will result when the ball goes out of bounds
behind the goal.
• If the ball goes behind the goal and comes right back out,
the ball will still be in play.
• The goalie may not handle a ball played back to him/her
by a teammate from below the waist.
10. Scoring:
• A goal is credited when the ball completely crosses the
goal line.
• Coed play - a goal which is scored by a female player will
count as two points.
• If the ball was last touched by on offensive player in the
neutral zone or the team’s own defensive half, an extra point
will be awarded for the goal scored.
11. Players may be issued a yellow card (warning). Two yellow cards
in the same game will result in a red card and ejection from the
game. Yellow cards will also result in a 2-minute release-able penalty.
Three yellow cards for the same player during the tournament will
result in a one game suspension. A red card will result in immediate
ejection. Ejected players will be suspended for their team's next
game. Players ejected from the game must leave the gym immediately
and will be suspended for the following game. Anyone abusing the
officials will be disqualified for the tournament.
12. Mercy Rule:
If a team is winning by at least 8 goals with under 5 minutes left,
the game will be stopped at that point.
