2006 Summer Institutes at UMBC

Teachers from Anne Arundel, Baltimore City and Baltimore County schools came to the UMBC campus to take this summer's Teaching American History graduate institutes, held from June 19 through July 21.  Participants, professional historians, and Master Teachers gathered to discuss such issues as the American Revolution, Slavery and Freedom in 19th Century America, the Industrial Revolution, and United States foreign policy.

During the Summer Institutes, participants have free access to the University of Maryland Libraries, attend seminars and teaching workshops, and network with colleagues daily.  They work with the Maryland State Archives, the UMBC Martha Ross Center for Oral History, and the State Library Resource Center at the Enoch Pratt Free Library in downtown Baltimore.
