Entering UMBC as a transfer student from the Community College of Baltimore County, Nishay knew that she wanted to be part of a close-knit campus community. As a member of the first T-SITE (Transfer Scholars in Information Technology and Engineering) cohort, she found a support system that encouraged her to participate in undergraduate research. Looking to give back to the UMBC community, she dedicated her research experience to improving the retention of engineering majors, especially women and underrepresented minorities. A member of the Honors College, Golden Key International Honor Society, and Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, Nishay is also passionate about the importance of the humanities for engineering and computing majors.
