Tyler started her college career with little knowledge of the world beyond Maryland; however, that changed in her sophomore year when she connected with UMBC's Humanities Scholars program to study abroad in South Africa. Over 8,000 miles from home, this unique experience gave her a new perspective on the world and reignited her intellectual curiosity and knowledge of international affairs. She is now receiving a Fulbright Scholarship to teach English in Malaysia after graduation. While at UMBC, Tyler has held several leadership positions, including as an SGA senator. She also worked with Dr. Maggie Holland as a research assistant and completed internships with the Chesapeake Stormwater Network and Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks.
