A Humanities Scholar, Yoo-Jin is an active advocate for relationship violence prevention. At UMBC, she designed an interdisciplinary studies major in psychosocial and cultural perspectives on violence and worked as a Peer Health Educator, Women's Center student staff member, and student member of the Consent Education Board to educate students about sexual violence prevention. An accomplished public speaker, she has connected with audiences through the inaugural TEDxUMBC, WYPR’s Maryland Morning, and universities across the country. Yoo-Jin has won multiple awards for her work in relationship violence prevention, including the Ricardo Palomares Award for Service and Academic Excellence, Patricia La Noue Scholarship, and Louis C. Kaplan Scholarship.
