Baltimore County Department of Economic Development

Helga manages business development activities in the Western side of Baltimore County. She coordinates business assistance programs for resident county business from Catonsville to Sparks. Helga also conducts business recruitment activity for attraction of technology-based companies, particularly in the biotech or information technology sector.

Prior to Baltimore County, Helga worked at the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development. During her 15-year tenure, she directed a Business Retention Program identifying Maryland companies that were at risk of downsizing or closure. She also managed the Foreign Investment Team that recruited foreign firms to the State. Her team was responsible for recruiting 345 prospects and creating 18,000 jobs.

Helga has a Masters of International Business Studies from the University of South Carolina and is a Certified Economic Developer. She also serves on the Board for the Maryland Economic Development Association.
