SpaceTEC and RWD Technologies Unveil National Online Aerospace Technician Certification Examinations

CAPE CANAVERAL AIR FORCE STATION and BALTIMORE, MD -- September 20, 2004 -- SpaceTEC® and RWD Technologies announced today that they will support the continuing needs of the aerospace industry by offering the first online certification program designed to qualify and test individuals as certified aerospace technicians. SpaceTEC is the focal point for aerospace-related technical education resources and provides professional development services for faculty, students, and aerospace employees.

SpaceTEC and RWD are implementing technical education certification examinations for aerospace technicians. The core skills certification exams will be administered at proctored testing centers at SpaceTEC's partner community colleges within Alabama, Florida, California, Mississippi, Ohio, and Virginia. To achieve certification status, candidates must meet prerequisites, obtain a voucher through SpaceTEC, and successfully pass four exams: two online exams and two oral/hands-on exams conducted by authorized SpaceTEC Examiners (STEs). Certified candidates will receive a nationally recognized certificate.

The exams are administered by RWD's CertificationNet®, an online testing infrastructure that provides online registration, payment, test delivery, testing and immediate pass-fail results reporting. It is used globally by a number of Fortune 1000 companies for training, testing and certification for employees, channel partners and customers. CertificationNet offers low- and medium-stakes testing, as well as high-stakes testing in a proctored environment. For more information, visit the website at http://spacetec.certification.net.

Dr. Al Koller, executive director, SpaceTEC, said, "We are pleased to be working with RWD to offer the first online certification programs for aerospace technicians on a national level. After evaluating all of the available solutions, we chose RWD's CertificationNet because it is a turn-key program that matched our requirements. With RWD's CertificationNet, SpaceTEC can offer online testing from several locations. This program is a step toward providing a more professional status for aerospace technicians , and based on our successful implementation, we are looking forward to expanding our online certification program."

Beth Ann Pelegan, division director, Applied Technology Solutions, RWD Technologies, said, "RWD Technologies is proud to be helping SpaceTEC continue their work in providing the first nationwide training and certification programs for aerospace technicians. We are pleased to provide the online examination platform for SpaceTEC using CertificationNet and look forward to expanding this program in the future."
