EOL 2: Hula Halau in Japan (Kurokawa)
Yoko Kurokawa received a MM in Ethnomusicology at the University of Texas at Austin and is currently a Ph.D candidate in Ethnomusicology at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. Since 1993, she has been researching Japanese Hawaiian music, particularly hula activities in the greater Tokyo area. Her other research includes ritual music in Okinawa and the emergence of Christian hula in Hawai'i since the 1980s. |
