Child Care Center
Campus day care facilities are available. The Center is open from
7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and accepts children ages 2-5. The cost
for bwtech@UMBC tenants would be $480 per month for full-time
care for a 2 year old and $460 per month full-time care for 3-5

Library Privileges

The Albin O. Kuhn Library and Gallery has holdings of more than
800,000 books and 4,200 periodicals and offers access to the holdings
from 13 libraries of the University System of Maryland. Its Special
Collections of national significance include photography, scientific
archives, science fiction, graphic satire, Marylandia and utopian
literature.
Conference Facilities
Campus conference facilities including The Commons, techcenter@UMBC,
bwtech@UMBC, Albin O. Kuhn Library, classrooms and lecture halls are available
at the same rates assessed to University users. Several facilities
are equipped with video conferencing and teleconferencing systems.

Fitness Facilities

The Retrievers Activities Center is a multi-purpose recreational
facility, including two gymnasiums used for indoor tennis, lacrosse
and soccer as well as traditional court sports; a fitness balcony
with state-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment; a track for walking;
indoor and outdoor swimming pools; a weight room and locker rooms.
Dining Facilities
techcenter@UMBC has an in-house cafe and catering company, Glenmore Caterers. Glenmore offers breakfast, lunch and snacks as well as daily specials. Glenmore can be reached at 410-455-5930. You can also enjoy a variety of selections on Main Campus in The Commons, which features a
food court and restaurant as well as a full-service bank, bookstore,
performance spaces and game room. Nearby towns of Catonsville
and Arbutus have a variety of eateries. Ellicott City, 10 minutes

Cultural offerings on campus include The Maryland Stage Company,
Phoenix Repertory Dance Company, the UMBC Symphony Orchestra,
the UMBC Fine Arts Gallery, The Albin O. Kuhn Library Gallery,
and frequent lectures on a variety of topics.
Shuttle Service
The UMBC shuttle service is offered for a modest fee. The shuttle
includes stops for downtown Baltimore, Camden Yards, BWI MARC/Amtrak
station and I-195 Park 'n Ride.
Internet2
Businesses can join Internet2 as a corporate member and take advantage
of the largest and fastest national network dedicated to delivering
tomorrow's Internet today. Internet2 provides high-speed access
(OC48) for collaboration with over 200 premier research universities
in the world. Companies can utilize UMBC's connection to Internet2
without having to purchase their own high-speed data circuit.
Mid-Atlantic Crossroads (MAX)
Companies locating at bwtech@UMBC have the option of joining the
Mid-Atlantic Crossroads Gigapop, a high performance regional network
(OC48). This gigapop is a key Internet hub linking the major federal
laboratories (NASA, NIST, NIH, NLM, NSF, and NOAA) and research
universities in the mid-atlantic region. Through MAX, companies
with joint research projects with federal labs can leverage the
high-speed connections for collaboration, which enables rapid
transfer of extremely large groups of data or files. Firms can
achieve reduced costs for access to advanced network services
by not needing to pay for a costly dedicated high-speed data circuit.
