Registration Information


The 2026 UMBC-Stanford Workshop features a one-day conference on Saturday, with keynote speakers Dr. Mark Levenson, Director of the Office of Biostatistics at the U.S. FDA; Dr. Lisa C. Lupinacci, SVP of Research Laboratories at Merck & Co., Inc.; and Dr. Mike Baiocchi, Associate Professor at Stanford University. The conference will be followed by panel discussions and parallel presentation sessions addressing prominent issues in drug development and regulatory science, including real-world data and the globalization of drug regulation.

There will also be a half-day short course on Friday afternoon, titled “Causal Generalist Medical AI,” given by Dr. Hongtu Zhu, Kenan Distinguished Professor of Biostatistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The unique feature of this conference is the direct dialogue among the leaders of regulatory agencies and industry from the US and Asian countries on innovations in regulatory sciences. Coffee breaks and lunch are included in the Saturday conference. The networking event is open to all registered participants on Saturday. Welcome to UMBC!

The UMBC-Stanford Workshop series aims to bring together regulators, academic researchers, and industry professionals to discuss prominent issues of common concern in clinical trials and to improve close collaborations to promote biomedical innovation in modern regulatory science.
